GORMANDALE FOOTBALL HISTORY TIMELINE

1898 – The Club was formed at a meeting at the Mechanics Institute on the 18th of March and wore the Yellow & Black Colours, playing in the Traralgon & District Football Association. The Club played its first game on May 28 against Traralgon and lost 1-2-8 to 4-7-33. The Club won its first match in the return game against Traralgon on the 4th of June 2-3-15 to 0-4-4.

1899 – Played the season in the Morwell District Football Association for the Hall cup

1900 – Returned to the Traralgon & District Football Association to play

1901 – Combined with Flynn’s Creek & Rosedale to become the Rosedale Football Club and retained the Yellow and Black colours, playing in the Traralgon & District Football Association

1902 – Gormandale reformed and played in the Traralgon and District Football Association.

1903 – Lack of local players and ground problems saw Gormandale stalwarts join Flynn’s Creek and play in the Traralgon & District Football Association

1904 – With a general lack of interest in Football in the Traralgon area, Gormandale played social Football on a Wednesday afternoon against Traralgon Rovers & Bruthen Creek

1905 – Gormandale played in the Carrajung District Football Association playing for the Mates cup, and wore Red & Blue colours

1906 – Gormandale won its first Premiership winning the Mates cup. The Local Gormandale community purchased 5 acres of land for 25 pounds per acre for a Recreation Reserve, and construction began later in the year on the site now used.

1907 – Social Football only was played, and the new Recreation Reserve was used for the first time.

1908 – Social Football continued with no organised competition. A Junior team representing Gormandale played for the first time against Bruthen Creek at Gormandale which the visitors won. A return match was played in August that year with the Gormandale Juniors having their first win.

1909 – Organised competition returned with Gormandale winning the Premiership in the Gormandale and District Football Association wearing Red and White colours

1911 to 1913 – The Club is was in recess.

1914 & 1915 – Office bearers recorded but no details available in regards to competition.

1916 to 1918 – The Club in recess due to the 1st World War.

1923 – Joined the Cowwarr & District Football Association and played in the Yellow & Black colours

1940 – Senior Premiers - Cowwarr & District Football Association

1941 to 1945 – Club in recess due to the 2nd World War

1946 – Senior Premiers & Champions - Cowwarr & District Football Association

1954 -  Senior Premiers - Cowwarr & District Football Association

1955 – Joined the newly formed Sale / Cowwarr Football League

1966 - Entered an Under 18 team for the first time

1968 – Joined the newly named North Gippsland Football League

1973 – Entered a Reserves Team in the NGFL when the League started Reserves for the first time. U18 Football went into recess for 1973 & 1974

1975 - Thirds resumed in the NGFL with the club fielding a team.

1980 – Carried out extensions to the club rooms which included moving the canteen in a atco hut

1981 – Won their first Reserves Premiership in the NGFL

1982 – Broke a 28 year Senior Premiership drought by winning the NGFL Premiership

1983 – Reserves Premiers NGFL

1985 – Reserves Premiers NGFL

1986 – Seniors Premiers & Champions and Reserves Back to Back Premiers NGFL

1988 – Opening of new Social Rooms & Bar which is in use today

1989 – Seniors Premiers & Thirds Premiers for the first time NGFL

1990 – Thirds Back to Back Premiers NGFL

1991 – Senior Premiers NGFL

1992 – Seniors Premiers & Champs Back to back Premiers NGFL

1994 – Reserves Premiers NGFL

1995 – Senior Premiers NGFL

2001 - The Gormandale Football Club merged with the Gormandale Netball Club to form the Gormandale Football / Netball Club Inc. The Club affiliated with the North Gippsland Football Netball League (NGFNL).

2010 - Reserves win the premiership

2024 - Renovations of the club’s home and away facilities

2025 - Gormandale Football Netball Club’s first youth women’s football team is established

GORMANDALE BASKETBALL/NETBALL CLUB TIMELINE

1948 – The Club was established as the Gormandale Netball Club and entered the Rosedale & District Basketball Association (R&DBA).

1950 to 1956 – Won a record 5 Premierships in a row and a total of 6 in the R&DBA only missing out in 1955

1957 to 1960 – Went into recess

1961 – Affiliated with the Traralgon Basketball Association

1962 – Affiliated with the North Gippsland Netball Association (NGNA) entering a Senior team and a Junior team

1963 – Won a Senior Premiership in the NGNA

1970 – Won a Senior Premiership in the NGNA

1971 – Gormandale Basketball Club renamed the Gormandale Netball Club

1972 – Won a Senior Premiership in the NGNA

1973 – Won back to back Senior Premierships in the NGNA

1974 – In addition to its Senior team the club entered Junior teams in the Under 16’s & 14’s

1979 – The Club fielded 2 teams in the Senior grades (A & B) and 2 teams in the Junior grades (U12’s & U15’s) & were Premiers in the B Grade competition in the NGNA

1980 – In addition to the 2 Senior and 2 Junior teams in the NGNA the club fielded a Senior team in twilight completion 1980 and 1981

1981 – Won the A Grade Premiership in the NGNA

1982 – Won back to back A Grade Premierships in the NGNA. The Under 15’s were also Premiers in the NGNA and became the clubs first Junior Premiership team.

1984 – The Club entered a C Grade team in the NGNA

1985 – Won the C Grade Premiership and a Junior Premiership in the NGNA

1990 – The Club fielded 3 Junior Teams in the NGNA in addition to the 3 Senior Teams

1991 – Won the B Grade Premiership in the NGNA

1993 – The Clubs U16 & U14 Teams were Premiers in the NGNA

1994 – Back to back Premiers in the U16’s & U14’s in the NGNA

1998 – Won the C Grade Premiership in the NGNA

2000 – The Clubs Under 15 & 13 Teams played in the Traralgon Netball Association as the NGNA no longer had Junior competitions. The North Gippsland Football League (NGFL) merged with the North Gippsland Netball Association (NGNA) to form the North Gippsland Football Netball League (NGFNL)

2001 – The Gormandale Netball Club merged with the Gormandale Football Club to form the Gormandale Football / Netball Club inc.

 2004 – C & D Grade win Premierships

2005 – D Grade Premiership

2006 – A, C, & D Grades win Premierships

2007 – C & D Grades win Premierships

2008 – B & D Grades win Premierships

2009 – C Grade wins the Premiership. The club fields a 17 & Under team in the newly formed 17 & Under competition in the NGFNL

2010 – Reserves, C & D Grades win the Premiership

2011 – D Grade wins the Premiership

2012 – B & C Grades win the Premiership

2013 – C Grade wins the Premiership. The club fields a 15 & Under team in the newly formed 15 & Under competition in the NGFNL
