Notes recorded by Pauline Bayley from League records.

In 1948 Gormandale Affiliated with the Rosedale Basketball Association and started playing on the same day and at the same Venues as the Football. It was known as Basketball not Netball in those days. Roma Young was President and R.Gay was Secretary. Verna Morley Coach and Umpire and Membership was 2 Shillings. A Premiership Cup donated by Mrs Farrington from Rosedale went to the Premiership team and if won 3 yrs in a row the team kept the cup. Gormandale won 4 years in a row 1951 to 54 and kept the cup. The Club went into Recess in 1957 and then in 1962 reformed and joined the Traralgon Womens Basketball Association. In 1960 Gormadale Juniors started and Shirley Onley coached for anumber of years through to 1974 when I came to the club. Other Inforamation is that Pauline Biddiscombe (Missen) had alot to do with the club in its early years, and Roma Young, Joyce Hilton (Lane) and Irene Pierce were invaluable with the club back in 1948. Verna Morley and Shirley Onley both played when they were not Pregnant. From 1963 each club took it in turns to hold an Annual Ball for the League which all Clubs attended. The season Awards and Premiership presentations were held at the Ball. The following Honour Baord commences in 1966 and runs through to 2001 when the club merged with the Football Club. Unfortunately there are no records available at this point in time for the period 1948 to 1965 other than what is contained in the notes above.
