Bill started his association at the club as a 15year old playing in the clubs Under 18 team in 1970. At that time he also played seniors becoming what was thought to be the youngest person to play Seniors. Bill’s promising career was cut short in 1974 when he suffered a significant knee injury. Bill did return to the field in seasons after and managed just over 100 games for the Senior club together with about 40 Under 18 games, but his knee issue would not allow him to reach the same heights.with his footy.   It was off the field that Bluey was a significant contributor to the club. He was the clubs Secretary in 1975 and together with a couple of other youngsters kept the club going when it could have gone under. Bill had several stints on the club committee through the eighties with the last one being in the early 2000’s. A draftsman by trade Bill was a key person in all of the club extension plans from 1987 through to the last extension which filled in part of the veranda and built new visitors change rooms. With 3 sons in Mark(Digger), Craig(Wooly), and David(Butch) playing Football, and Daughter Julie playing Netball, her presence at games was regular. LAURIE POWER

Life Membership GFC - 1991

Laurie’s outstanding service to the club was in the main off the ground rather than on it. Laurie played a handful of games in an era when the club only had one team, and as a youngster ran the boundary for the club. Laurie was a Committee member for many years, but his strength was the way he mixed with players and members, and was the first to welcome new people to the club. Famous for his Thursday night Dim Sims and Wooding Trips, he would mix the cordial for the players to have at three quarter time for many years. Laurie was a keen student of club history and was front and centre at reunions and presentation nights passing on his stories and showing his memorabilia. As you can see from the list above, May was a regular supporter at games and did her bit in the Canteen when required. A Gormy boy, Jimbuck started his career at Gormandale in the U18’s competition in 1971 and went on to play in excess of 200 games for the club. Not overly tall his physical strength and competitiveness had him generally playing in the ruck or ruck roving and he was a valuable team man.  Being a member of the 1983 Reserves Premiership with brother Ken (Spunky), was particularly satisfying to him. At a point in the clubs history in 1975, Jimbuck along with Bill Riddle & Bugsy Turnbull, all who were in there early 20’s and still playing, almost single handily ran the club with Jimbuck looking after the Treasurers role. Their contribution kept the club going when the club was going through a difficult period. After retiring from playing Jimbuck joined the Committee and carried out several roles including Club Secretary in 1986, 87, 96, & 98 and Vice President, but it was as a recruiter for the club that he excelled and was responsible for bringing many good players to the club who later played in Premierships. His most important signing was Martin White who he brought down from the Darwin. Martin was a key player in the drought breaking 1982 Senior Premiership team. Senior Best & Fairests in 1983 & 1986 were a highlight of his career which also saw him play for the League in the 1984 Interleague carnival. Parks was a great mover on the field, cool under pressure, and a safe mark. While he mainly played as a half back flanker as part of the renowned Neave, Hore, Parker half back line, his overhead and judgement skills could see him play well above his height. It is not known how Bernie first started his association with the club but it was in the mid-seventies when he did the Football timekeeping for the first time. Bernie lived in Traralgon and did not drive, so he relied on the club to get him to games and back, which a number of members took on over what was in excess of 10 seasons as club timekeeper. Bernie generally did all 3 games of Football each week and was extremely proud to be the Timekeeper for most of the Club Premierships from 1981 to 1986. Taking into account the club was in recess from 1941 to 1944 due to the war, it is estimated Tom played in excess of 200 games for the club. After finishing on the ground Tom gave several years of service as the clubs timekeeper. Tom was awarded his Life Membership in 1985

Life Membership GFC - 1984

Skippy commenced his playing career with Gormandale in 1971 and was a permanent fixture in the Senior team for many seasons on the way to playing in excess of 200 games for the club. In his early days he was a quick leading accurate kicking Full Forward and a highlight of his career was when he won the League Goal Kicking award in 1974. Skippy was moved into the midfield a bit later in his career and became a ball magnet setting up forward moves with his accurate disposal. A significant shoulder injury put a premature end to his playing career but he was fortunate to play in the clubs Reserves Premiership team in 1981. Skippy was recognised for his playing career on playing his 200 game in 1984. After retirement Skippy continued his involvement with the club coaching the Thirds for 2 years and acting as their runner for about 10 years. In that period he spent time on the Committee, as a Selector, and was also a runner for the Seniors for about 10 seasons. For his overall service to the club, Skippy was inducted into the clubs Hall of Fame in 2014
